nuff respect out to little lion sound and the whole evidence music crew…
equiknoxx, our favorite dystopian dancehall crew, are set release a pair of eps on their label from artists rtkal and shokryme. the two recently collaborated on dreamy track ‘b.b.s.’ (which stands for “biggest bumboclaat spliff”) produced by equiknoxx member gavsborg.
rtkal is an artist from birmingham whose herbs & praiseep is two years in the making and you can tell by its precision. rtkal describes equiknoxx music as “the home for weird mcs” and his avant approach fits right in.
kingston native shokryme is a perfect pairing with rtkal (it’s no wonder they’ve both included ‘b.b.s.’ on their respective eps.) he will release his own three-song collection bandana at the same time. it includes the track ‘drop’ featuring frisco of boy better know. ‘drop’ was one of the unnamed standouts on swing ting’s recent bananas fact mix and is available to stream in full for the first time below.
rtkal’s herbs & praise and shokryme’s bandana are both out now, released on friday, april 28, via equiknoxx music.

4/20 may be but a hazy blur by now, but fear not. ‘B.B.S’, (or “Biggest Bumboclaat Spliff”) is a track brought to you by Rtkal and Shokryme, forthcoming on Equiknoxx Music.
Hailing from Birmingham and Kingston respectively, the pair have joined forces on the delectable dancehall riddim, due for release on April 28. Gavsborg, a co-founder of the Equiknoxx crew, produced the tune, which features on both of Rtkal and Shokryme’s forthcoming EP’s, ‘Herbs & Praise’ and ‘Bandana’,
The likes of Boy Better Know’s Frisco, Shanique Marie and Alex Bass have also stepped up to lend their names to the projects, which both land on April 28 via Equiknoxx.
The video for ‘B.B.S’ was shot in Kingston, and is a celebration of music, family and friends. Check it out below.
to honor today’s highest of holidays, jamaican riddim experts equiknoxx have blessed us with a new track. produced by kingston’s gavsborg—a co-founder of the group, which also includes time cow, bobby blackbird, shanique marie and kemikal splash—with vocals from shokryme and rtkal, “b.b.s” (short for “biggest bumboclaat spliff”) is in keeping with the island’s grand tradition of 4/20-friendly anthems. gavsborg displays a light touch with the drums, while the song’s futurist dancehall melodies and fleet-footed vocalists take you away in a gentle cloud of smoke.
over email, gavsborg explained that the song emerged from the spirit of collaboration. “b.b.s started out as a way to get both artistes collaborating with each other naturally. i knew what their common interests were, so i just put it into focus,” he wrote.
the artists have also debuted a smokey video for the song, which takes place in the streets of jamaica. it’s directed by gareth cobran and is shot in black and white with one exception: the only item in color is, you guessed it, green.
“b.b.s.” will feature on upcoming eps by both rtkal and shokryme, titled herbs and praise and bandana respectively, both presented by equiknoxx and both out on april 28.
